Where do I go to register for Memphis Art + Design Week?

To view and participate in Memphis Art + Design Week you have to register via our ticket link. This will give you access to the scheduling app Sched which has the agenda for all panels, keynotes, workshops, and more. Once you’ve purchased your ticket, we also highly recommend registering for Sched. This will create a better experience for you as Sched will be the best place to see the full schedule and Facebook will be the best place to ask questions and engage with others.

What all should I do to get ready and prepare for Memphis Art + Design Week?

First and foremost, register on Hopin.to. This will give you access to all MAD Week sessions and events. Next, check out the Sched app. This will give you a more in-depth look at the schedule and speakers. You can also register for sessions here as a way to start building your own personal schedule. Next, join the Facebook event There you can interact with other attendees, ask questions at the "help desk", view important resources, and stay up to date on all things DSW.

Where do I go to watch Memphis Art + Design Week virtual sessions?

To watch or participate in any MAD Week virtual session, panel, keynote, special event, networking event, or showcase, you will go to Sched and use the location link to guide you to the correct profile page or space. Think of Sched as your virtual map.

So what’s HopIn for? Do I have to register for Hopin to attend the event?

Yes. You will be prompted to register for Hopin.to when getting your ticket. You will have to register to watch and participate in the Virtual Summit on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Will I need to download anything when using Hopin.to?

No. Hopin.to is a website and you will not need to download anything to use it or participate in any of the virtual events.

How do I use Hopin? Think of Hopin as a virtual Basecamp or convention. It is more than just a place to watch webinars. On Hopin.to you’ll be able to watch keynotes and panels, network with other attendees, and explore expo halls. There will be a toolbar on the left that will allow you to jump from one area to the next. You will also be able to chat with attendees and speakers via the chat system on the right. If you meet someone you connect with, you can also send them a direct message outside of the event chat. Feel free to learn more about Hopin and its functionality here.

Where do I find the complete Memphis Art + Design Week schedule?

Please go to Sched to see the full MAD Week schedule. We highly recommend using this app over the schedule function in Hopin. The Sched app is much more comprehensive and you can build your personal schedule in a more user friendly way.

Do I need to register for sessions via Sched?

You do not necessarily need to register for any sessions via Sched. The sessions do not have a limit, so there is no need to reserve your seat. We do recommend that you register for sessions via Sched as this is how you can build a personalized schedule that you can then refer back to at any time.

How do I connect and engage with other attendees?

There are many ways to interact with other attendees during Memphis Art + Design Week. On Hopin there will be a networking feature dedicated to meeting other attendees 1-on-1, at random. Think of it like speed dating, but virtually, and within a business environment! To access this feature, click the “Networking” tab in the left toolbar within Hopin. There will also be a live chat feature during each session and event. Feel free to ask questions or introduce yourself during sessions.

We also recommend joining the Slack workspace. There you can chat in different channels specifically dedicated to each of the tracks. If you make a great connection, make the first move and invite them to a video call via Slack.

How do I buy tickets?

Tickets are only available online, here. No cash transactions are available, however if an attendee has special cash requirements, we are happy to arrange for these purposes with our community partners.

How old do I need to be to attend Memphis Art + Design Week?

MAD week events are open to all age ranges.

We encourage virtual learning and participation for students K-12. Parents and teachers, please review the descriptions for each session to ensure that is a topic that you would like students or children to review.

How do I access the agenda?

Memphis Art + Design Week uses a scheduling platform to allow attendees to keep up with all the official activities happening. The agenda is available on the website in mid-September.

We encourage all participants to use this scheduling app as their passport throughout the week. While the agenda is available on the website and events are free, schedule customization is only available for ticket holders.

App can be used via mobile, app, and desktop.

How do I know the Official Memphis Art + Design Week events?

Memphis Art + Design Week approves all official Memphis Art + Design Week events. Approved events are located on the website. Partners also have an “Official Memphis Art + Design Week Partner” sticker or badge.

If you suspect that there is an unsanctioned or harmful event occurring, please contact the venue host and also notify our team at MADWeek@3RDSPACEarts.org.

What has Memphis Art + Design Week done to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19 at the event?

3RDSPACE as the program owner of Memphis Art + Design Week has taken precautionary measures in planning and managing Memphis Art + Design Week. The program is 90% virtual experience hosted across livestreaming platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and HopIn.

For in-person experiences, we have ensure that there is sanitizing pre, during, and post by volunteers. We also ask that all attendees wear a mask or face coverings when in public.

For open spaces including museum, galleries, and institutions we have provided a FAQ for easy access to all protocols during Memphis Art + Design Week.

Memphis Art + Design Week Committee approves all activities and in-person events as “Official Memphis Art + Design Week Partners”

Why art + design?

Art & Design has a strong relationship, and in a city like Memphis, we find it imperative to examine the role both play. Google says this about the relationship between art and design.

MAD Week is inclusive of all those that find themselves in the creative visual world including visual artists, graphic designers, social practice artists, landscape designers, architects, urban designers, experimental artists, makers, practitioners and more. We love those that the merge art x design x technology, and the ways our community continues to create and define as art and design.

What neighborhoods are involved?

This is all about Memphis, Memphis, Memphis. Memphis Art + Design Week for 2020 is going virtual. We aim to highlight artists throughout Memphis neighborhoods including historical locations and neighborhoods including but not limited to, Oakhaven, Orange Mound, Midtown, Downtown Memphis, South Memphis, and East Memphis.

Are all events free and open to the public?

Our goal is to make this accessible to everyone around the world and provide exposure for the creative ideas and people thriving in Memphis. Ticket prices are $25/person. Other ticket tiers are available with special perks.

Can I volunteer?

Volunteers aka MAD Week Street Team members are essential to spreading the word about MAD Week, assisting with technology support with community members, and other events. Whether you’re a school group, teacher, creative professional, retiree, or art enthusiast we can’t wait to work with you!

Will you have translators?

MAD Week is for everyone. If a translator is needed. Please contact our team and we work on scheduling.
