an annual exploration of

art, design, and community.

3—10 October 2020

We want to create an art week that highlights not only artists, but the role of art and design in creating a better city.

The week emphasizes public programs that promote both the exchange of ideas and stimulate artistic production.

Free and open to the public, these events bring to the fore some of the leading thinkers and creators of contemporary culture.

Memphis—TN

We were always taught that art creates problems and design solves them. Is that an overly limiting way to think of our practice? Are we closing ourselves off to interesting opportunities by not embracing the role of troublemakers?

Partners include Arrow Creative, Dixon Gallery & Gardens, Memphis River Parks Partnershipark Novo, Sofia Pazari, Sandra Cami, Kevin Matsuya, Chase Nevins, Ida Kester, Helen Gates and more.

Enjoy live demonstrations of papermaking, Japanese calligraphy, screenprinting and other craft traditions with applications to both art and design.
